About Us

History and Culture is a site that outlines the development of humanity through historic and cultural events. I started this site as a way to understand how our society came to be. I wasn't just interested in revolutions, conflicts, and battles. But more specifically, I wanted to understand the ideas that led to the initiation of these events. Individuals have ideas; those ideas proliferate, and then they trigger world-changing events that reshape how our species organizes itself. This is why the sites' focus is history and culture.

Understanding any event requires understanding the preceding event. For example, you can't understand the motivations for World War II without understanding World War I. Likewise, to understand World War I, you need to understand the Franco-Prussian War, the Austro-Prussian War, Italian Unification, the interests of the British Empire and the Russian Empire, the decline of the Ottoman Empire, etc. If you don't understand these events, then your understanding of World War I is limited. If your understanding of World War I is limited, then your understanding of World War II is also limited. So, I want to develop a comprehensive outline of all the events in history that led us to where we are today. I want those events to be clearly outlined so a narrative can develop and be followed.

This is a long-term project that I will develop for years. I will add a new section every week; eventually, this site will be a repository for the narrative of our species' development. I hope you will find this useful and find some clarity.
